The Croydon Oak
Year: 2018
Location: Croydon, Greater London
Budget: £2,000
Role: Lead Artist
Commissioned by RISE Gallery, as part of the 2018 RISE Festival.
This piece forms part of a series of frame structures. They stem from an investigation into geometric patterns of growth found within the natural world and a human and imperfect response to replication. In response to the location and the old water fountain I have created two interlocking forms which are reflective of the two molecules oxygen and hydrogen and which appear to leak back into the ground. It could also be interpreted as growing up from the ground like the roots of a tree.
