The Ladies in Waiting

Year: 2012-13

Location: Sheffield

Budget: £20,000

Client: Pennine Housing 2000

Role: Lead Artist

As part of a larger regeneration scheme in the area, we were commissioned to lead the consultation and creation of a a series of artworks across three neighbouring new parks. These sculptures were inspired by the local tutor history and links with the imprisonment of Mary Queen of Scots nearby. This park was called Seaton Fields after one of her ladies in waiting, all of which were also called Mary. There were four sculptures positioned at each entrance of the park and were designed to be interactive artworks and reference the beheading of the Queen.
