Love Sholver! Artist Residency 2009
Oldham and Rochdale Council
During the five days leading up to the Love Sholver! Festival, I became artist in residence on the Sholver estate, in order to devise a series of ‘happenings’ as a kind of teaser campaign.
The aim of the project was to engage the community and encourage them to come to the festival, while helping to change perceptions of the neighbourhood and celebrating the resources that already exist there. In a wider context, the festival is part of the ongoing regeneration of Sholver estate and is a free annual event organised by our client, pARTicipate (part of Oldham and Rochdale HMR), and First Choice Homes, the local housing association.
